What is ImgBurn?

Developed by Lightning UK, ImgBurn download for PC is considered one of the best disc burning applications. The software doesn’t just have a user-friendly interface, but it also offers several advanced features that are often missing from free tools. While the lightweight program hasn’t received an update since 2013, it’s still capable of handling almost all disc burning requirements.

This tool also lets users burn images to discs, write files, and create images from files or discs. Users can access these features from the program's interface that looks a lot more old-school than that of similar applications. The app’s classic appearance makes it easy to use, though, especially for those users who aren't very tech-savvy.

How do I use ImgBurn?

Once download is complete, the software opens up to a layout with two sections: one for controls and the other to keep track of the ongoing tasks. To burn a disc, all you need to do is choose the image file you wish to copy, select the destination drive, adjust the speed and the number of copies you require, and hit start.

In case you’re worried that you might compromise the disc, you can use the disc burning software to complete a test run and see if you encounter any problems. The tool also provides users with many advanced features, including an option to create a dropzone on the Windows desktop. Once created, you can drag-and-drop files and folders that you wish to copy to a disc and speed up the task significantly.

Apart from letting users burn CDs, DVDs, ISO files, and Blu-ray discs, it also offers additional functionalities like creating MDS files, searching for ATAPI devices, setting up disc writing speed, resetting DMS, and more. The settings panel of the software is where you’ll find all of these advanced features, including an option to locate the file’s destination.

Does the app have a clean interface?

The program has a two-part layout to help easily display the program's many functions and its log data. The window that records the logs always stays open when you’re running the app and displays all ongoing tasks. You can separate this window from the tool and place it on your desktop to easily view essential information related to disc writing.

The functions window is ImgBurn’s primary window and consists of well-defined features. Each icon displays its use with a descriptive name. For example, some of the program’s descriptive icons are Write folder to disc, Create image files from folders, and Verify disc. The tool also has an additional Discovery feature that can verify quality while burning the disc.

Clicking on a function opens a dialog box consisting of further details about the feature. When you insert a blank CD or DVD into the drive, the app will open a window that displays the disc’s capacity, size, and other additional data. You can then open the Advanced settings panel to view the drive’s OEM configurations and write or erase discs as per your requirements.

What are the app’s main features?

The software’s primary function is to burn discs quickly and effortlessly. For this, the program provides various disc writing capabilities, including an option to burn over 10 image formats, write over rewritable discs, produce images from disc or files, burn audio and video discs from different file formats, and create CD, DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray discs.

In addition to this, it lets users tweak various aspects of the disc burning process, including the speed and quality. The disc burning application also provides different modes for performing different tasks. Users can enter into test mode to see whether they would be able to write a disc without facing any errors. You can also use the tool to get additional information about any disc you wish to burn.

Can ImgBurn copy a DVD?

When you download ImgBurn on your Windows computer, it gives you the option to burn a video-based DVD from any file stored on a local folder. It also lets you create various discs from ISO images, Blu-ray folders, and other MDS files.

Will ImgBurn copy protected discs?

Unfortunately, its features don’t include an option to copy DVDs or CDs that are protected. That is because the software doesn’t have a feature that removes CSS encryption or password protection. So, if you wish to copy a copyrighted file, you will have to first decrypt the file using another software program and later copy the disc to your computer or external drive.

Is ImgBurn safe?

ImgBurn is an efficient program that is free from any malware or viruses. It also packs a lot of features that make it stand out against its main competitors like UltraISO, Nero Burning ROM, Free ISO Burner, and BurnAware Free

Should I download ImgBurn?

If you’re looking for a user-friendly software program that lets you burn CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs, you should download ImgBurn on your Windows device.

The feature-rich application can copy a range of image types, including CUE, ISO, NRG, PDI, and BIN, among others. You can also use the tool to get information about any disc, run a copy in test mode, and customize the burning speed. The software is quite popular and considered to be one of the best disc burning tools around.

Recovering from damge done.. I was clever enough to avoid installing most of the garbageware but not clever enough to avoid installing WSE Rocket so I had to manually uninstall it and reconfigure my browsers to undo the damage that it had done.

ImgBurn installer comes with malware!. Although ImgBurn seems to work well you need to be careful because the installer includes malware. If you are not careful during the install processes your computer will be infected with unwanted programs like WSE Rocket. Because of this I would not recommended it for anyone except an experienced computer user. Pros: The software works. I was able to do what I wanted and that was to create an ISO image from a DVD that I had created. Cons: Make it clearer what is and what is not part of ImgBurn during the installation processes.

Best burner ever.. Recently I had to burn a copy of my OS disc, as back up against loss or damage. I tried to follow one method, using the system and it's reading of my disc, and fell foul of it. ImgBurn by comparison was so quick and simple to use. Have used it to build, read and write. It even helps you by humorously telling you, when a step occurs you're not sure about, that 'being such a wonderful program' it can do the step for you, if you like. Definitely better than Nero and nowhere near as bloated.I am a numpty and even I can use this program! Brilliant. Pros: Easy to use, doesn't take up a lot of space. Cons: None
